COURSES OFFERED

(P.L.E.C.) correspondence courses are offered by Portland Bible College, a
ministry of City Bible Church, Portland, Oregon. Students can take certificate
level or degree level courses. 18 credits can be given to those pursuing degree
level courses. Second and Third Year Courses can be offered to those who feel
called to receive further training. You can find information on those courses at

First Year Students

Devotional Life
-A practical course assisting the student in cultivating a vibrant personal relationship with
God. Special attention is given to prayer, praise, worship and music.

Holy Spirit
-A study of the walk of the believer in the Spirit-filled life, emphasizing both theory and
practice.

Local Church
-A detailed study of the local Church in God's plan, the structure and order of the New
Testament church and the ministries of the local church and their functions.

Personal Evangelism
-This course is designed to prepare the student in the use of God's Word to effectively
share the gospel with others. Frequent objections are met with Biblical answers.
Suggestions for strengthening new converts are offered.

Leadership I
-Studies in the practice and problems of applying leadership principles and problems of
applying leadership principles with particular emphasis on the call and preparation of
leadership.

Introduction to Counseling
-An introduction to counseling including a review of major behavioral models. Basic
counseling techniques and skills are treated in depth.

Vision Management
-A leadership development course focusing on how to define, impart and implement
biblical vision and philosophy.

Introductions to Missions
-A survey of the history, strategy and theology of world outreach, focusing on crosscultural
ministry issues.
